ディックは休暇中、自分の息子がぬいぐるみのウサギと遊んでいる姿を見て
子供の頃に本物のウサギを飼っていたことを思い出し、
突然紙の上に一匹のウサギを描きました。
それがミッフィーだったのです。
長い年月が経った今でもミッフィーは変わらず子供のウサギのままです。
登場するキャラクターのほとんどが真っ直ぐこちらを向いています。
「キャラクター達はいつもあなたのことを見ているよ」という、
ディックからのメッセージが込められています。
