Description
Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, celebrates 360 years since the opening of the Kutani kiln. Kutani-yaki was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition and became famous throughout the world as Japan*Kutani, and has been collected by famous museums around the world, including the British Museum and the Louvre. [Kutani Wa Kiln*Meizan Kiln: Kutani Wa Kiln is a pottery company that creates handmade and hand-painted ceramics with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I try to make products with natural shapes, colors, and functionality. Meizangama Kiln: A technique of applying gold leaf with a thickness of 5/10,000 mm and adding a cracked pattern to the gold leaf by shrinkage in the overglaze kiln. Temperature control is difficult, and depending on the season and room temperature, even a difference of 10 degrees Celsius may cause the gold leaf to crack, or the gold leaf may be absorbed into the base material and become thin. The second generation Kutani Meizan learned overglaze painting from his father, Meizan I. He began studying around 1965 to fuse Kanazawa, platinum, and silver leaf with Kutani Yaki and perfected the technique of split gold leaf, known as -Foil Meizan‖, in which gold leaf is split by the shrinkage of the paint in the kiln. He succeeded in simplifying the process of painting by strictly controlling the temperature of the overglaze painting (colors) and the gold in one kiln, whereas it is usually done in two different kilns at different temperatures. |
