勾玉は古墳時代（三世紀）からあると云われ、日本「三種の神器」のひとつ。古来より魔除け・幸運を呼ぶ御守りとして重宝されてきました。太陽と月が重なり合った形、原形は牙・胎児ともいわれています。勾玉に空いている穴は、御先祖様との繋がりを表し、その恩恵を受けられると云い伝えられています。また、子宝・安産の御守りとしても親しまれています。
