Description
Ceramic iPhone speaker with mysterious colors East Japan Project Kozo Ito x KiBiSi OTO OTO is a ceramic analog speaker for smartphones created in collaboration with Danish product design unit KiBiSi and Kasama-yaki ceramic artist Kozo Ito. A cross between a bowl-shaped vessel and a wind instrument, OTO uses a trumpet-shaped tube to expand the sound of a small speaker on the body of a smartphone through an echo effect, while the bowl part can hold small objects. The goal was to mix traditional technology with a lifestyle that incorporates modern state-of-the-art technology. The result is a new everyday product that is both unusual, modern, and nostalgic. The ceramic part of the OTO was handmade by Kimizo Ito, head of Ito Atelier in Kasama, Ibaraki, while the adapter for connecting the iPhone and the feet for increasing the acoustic effect were cut from walnut in a woodworking studio in Iwate. The body, which is made with semi-industrial precision on a potter's wheel, is made using Kimizo Ito's unique technique of penetration, so that no two pieces are alike. *KiBiSi KiBiSi is a design unit founded by Lars*Holm*Larsen (Kilo Design), Bjarke*Ingels (BIG), and Jens*Martin*Skibsted (Skibsted Ideation). Based in Copenhagen, they collaborate with a variety of companies to deliver innovative, idea-driven design. Their innovative designs, backed by the knowledge and experience of an industrial designer, an architect, and the founder of a bicycle brand, span architecture, furniture, electronics, vehicles, culture, and lifestyle. KiBiSi continues to produce long-lasting designs while retaining strong ideas. *Kozo Ito Born in 1932 in Kanazawa His works are in the collections of museums around the world. His style goes beyond the conventional realm of ceramics, and his works are mainly in the realm of contemporary art. Ito's forms genuinely express the dichotomy of the organic and inorganic nature of clay. He also always uses the material as his subject matter, expanding the possibilities of expression by objectively capturing the immense energy of the earth. |

■KiBiSi
