For children whose native language is not Japanese, the presence of a native language has a significant impact not only on aspects of language learning, but also on self-esteem, identity, and parent-child relationships. Based on the experience of bilingual (mother tongue and Japanese) education in an elementary school with many children of Chinese origin and a small number of children of Vietnamese origin, this book presents an attitude toward holistic education and the way to improve the environment for children whose mother tongue is not Japanese [nothing is lost].
