By Ogata Korin, Edo period, Lent by Kyoto National Museum
Renewed design of a penny note with "Bamboo and Tiger" by Ogata Korin, a popular painter of the Rimpa school.
The "Bamboo and Tiger" design is also famous as the official character of the Kyoto National Museum, Torarin.
Needless to say, the expressive power of the shading of the ink is wonderful,
The expression of the tiger, which is somewhat charming, is one of the features of this work.
This is the kind of notepad that makes the recipient relax a little.
It can be used when you want to add a few words to a gift, or when you want to casually express your gratitude or a message.
Korin Ogata
Born between 1658 and 1716 as the second son of a wealthy kimono merchant in Kyoto. Founder of the Rimpa school. He first studied in the Kano school, but was inspired by Tawaraya Sotatsu and took over his style. His clear and decorative style is called "Korin pattern" and had a great influence on later generations. Her representative works are [National Treasure, Tsubame and Flowers] and [National Treasure, Red and White Plum Blossoms].
