The scroll is decorated with gold-embossed autumn leaves, in reference to Kozanji Temple, which is known for its beautiful autumn foliage. The tea garden at Kozanji Temple is the oldest in Japan, and Rikyu plum blossoms, which are associated with the tea ceremony, are also scattered.
The large circle in the center is based on the motif of a target made of lotus leaves that appears in picture scrolls, with many animals vividly depicted inside.
