Three boards are attached to the top of the instrument, with the center board fixed and the boards on both sides movable. The lower part of the planks is held in place by a rubber thread, so that each time it is shaken, the outer plank bounces back and hits the central plank, creating a percussion sound.
The striking surface is covered with coconut shells that have been processed into a circular shape, and the sound of the coconut shells striking the board produces a unique, dry, bouncing tone. Despite its simple structure, the dry sound adds a rhythmic accent to this authentic percussion instrument.
