Description
This is a story about a mysterious valley I once visited. It was just before spring, when the mountains were still covered with dead trees, and I was walking along a ridge in the woods. It was covered with cherry blossoms in full bloom. The sound of singing led me down to the bottom of the valley, where I found a group of colorful ogres enjoying the cherry blossoms. I did not feel at all frightened, even though they were ogres. Following their lead, I joined them in flower viewing. The feast in front of me was just like the ones my mother used to put in the stacked boxes on field day when I was a child. [Hide and seek, this antler is rare.] Suddenly, an ogre called out, and the ogres formed a long line, holding onto each other's antlers. I was the last demon in the line, and I was the one who got caught by the horn of the last demon in the line, so I had to play hide-and-seek with him. I searched for the ogres in the woods, but I could not find them. But I couldn't find any ogres, and I began to feel mysterious. Was it really ogres that I was chasing? Because it looked like my grandmother was hiding behind that tree. Behind the tree over here is my mother. My father hid behind that tree. They were all people who had already left this world. But, I see. They were all here. They were playing in the valley of cherry blossoms. As I thought this, the wind blew and all the cherry blossoms in the valley scattered their petals in unison. I found myself standing alone in the thicket. The cherry blossoms were no longer in full bloom, but I could see the buds of large, swollen flowers on the branches of the mountain cherry trees. Somewhere, I could hear those demons singing. |
