My name is Michiko Egashira, and I am a picture book author. I was not an art student, nor did I study painting professionally. I started my career as an illustrator when I was just starting out in the workforce and I remembered that I used to love to draw. I bought watercolors, which I had been familiar with since I was a small child, and gradually began to paint my favorite pictures at the end of the workday. I was entranced by the way the colors blended together, delighted that I could do even a little bit well, and just enjoyed painting. Painting became a time for me to reflect on myself. I hope that you too will find a little happiness in your daily life and try to paint as much as you can.
