Korin Ogata, Edo period, Lent by MOA Art Museum Korin Ogata Born between 1658 and 1716 as the second son of a wealthy drapery merchant [Gankinya] in Kyoto. Founder of the Rimpa school. He first studied in the Kano school, but was inspired by Tawaraya Sotatsu and took over his style. His clear and decorative style is known as the "Korin pattern" and had a great influence on later generations. 尾形光琳 江戸時代 MOA美術館蔵
尾形光琳(おがた こうりん)
万治元〜享保元年(1658〜1716)、京都の呉服商で富豪「雁金屋」の次男として生まれる。琳派の祖。はじめは狩野派に学ぶが、俵屋宗達に感化されその様式を引き継ぐ。明快で装飾的な画風は「光琳模様」と呼ばれ、後世に与えた影響は大きい。代表作は『国宝 燕子花図』『国宝 紅白梅図屏風』。
