He learned painting at an early age and attracted attention for his sketch paintings, later gaining popularity for his paintings of beautiful women. [He produced excellent portraits of women by depicting the minute changes in their facial expressions in the form of "large neck paintings. His representative works are [Shisensen Koinobu] and [Fujin Sogaku Jubutai]. |

宝暦3〜文化3年(1753〜1806)、出身地未詳。幼少から絵を学び写生画で注目され、のち美人画で人気を博す。「大首絵」という形式で女性の表情の微細な変化を描きとり、肖像としても優れた作品を生み出した。代表作は『詩撰恋之部』『婦人相学十躰』。
