With five unique colors to choose from, it is fun to choose which one to use! This is a perfect gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Respect-for-Senior-Citizens Day, as well as for yourself! * Introduction of the work * National Treasure [Caricatures of Birds, Beasts and Humans], Heian & Kamakura period, Lent by Kozan-ji This is a picture scroll consisting of four scrolls, A, B, C, and D. Scroll A is a caricature of anthropomorphic figures. Scroll A is the most popular among the four scrolls, as it depicts anthropomorphic animals in a spontaneous manner. The author of the scroll is said to be the Toba priest Kakuyu (1053-1140), but there is no proof, and various theories exist. Recent research has revealed that the order of the paintings has been changed since the original. It is thought that this is because they were originally divided into two volumes and then joined together. Official recognition by Kozan-ji Temple Our [Caricatures of Birds, Beasts, and Humans] series has been commercialized with the permission of Kozanji Temple (Kyoto), where the works are kept. A portion of the purchase price will be donated to Kozanji Temple, The money is used to support the preservation of the temple's cultural assets* and the maintenance of the temple grounds. |
