As the name suggests, it was originally made for fishermen, with the brim removed to prevent it from being blown away by strong winds and to make it easier for them to hear each other. The cap was made deep enough to allow the ears to show. The front is made of twill and the back is made of mesh, redesigned by CELEB for town use.
