These tenugui hand towels are painstakingly dyed one by one by hand using the Sogizome technique, which has been handed down since the Meiji era (1868-1912). It is said that people bathe in iris baths on Dragon Boat Festival because the strong fragrance of iris is believed to drive away evil spirits.
