He first studied in the Kano school, but was inspired by Tawaraya Sotatsu and took over his style. His clear and decorative style is known as the "Korin pattern" and had a great influence on later generations. Her representative works are [National Treasure, Tsubame and Flowers] and [National Treasure, Red and White Plum Blossoms]. |

尾形光琳(おがた こうりん)
万治元〜享保元年(1658〜1716)、京都の呉服商で富豪「雁金屋」の次男として生まれる。琳派の祖。はじめは狩野派に学ぶが、俵屋宗達に感化されその様式を引き継ぐ。明快で装飾的な画風は「光琳模様」と呼ばれ、後世に与えた影響は大きい。代表作は『国宝 燕子花図』『国宝 紅白梅図屏風』。
