Description
Arya, a Syrian girl, is in the UK awaiting refugee status. She fled Syria, which had become uninhabitable due to the civil war, and finally made it to Manchester. On the way there, she was separated from her father when they crossed the sea in a small boat, and she goes to the refugee support center every day with her baby brother while supporting her mother who has lost her energy. One day, she notices a ballet school in the same building. Arya, who had taken ballet lessons in Syria, meets a bright young girl named Dotty and her teacher Miss*Helena there, and through dancing, she comes back to life. Filled with hope, warmth and humanity, this is a 2020 [Carnegie Award] nominee. |
