Description
| *Frame Painting [Kameido Umeyashiki, One Hundred Famous Views of Edo] Utagawa Hiroshige, Edo period, Tokyo National Museum A masterpiece of Ukiyo-e, reproduced in collotype printing. It comes with an easy-to-decorate mat and can be used either as-is or in a frame. *What is collotype*? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype printing expresses them with continuous gradation, allowing the reproduction of fine details that are closer to the real thing, as in a photograph. Hiroshige Utagawa From 1797 to 1858 (Kansei 9 to Ansei 5), he became a student of Utagawa Toyohiro and entered the ukiyo-e world. At first, he painted beauties and portraits of actors, but he gained fame for his landscapes and became a leading artist of landscape prints. He also left behind flower-and-bird and hand-painted works. His representative works include "The Fifty-three Stages of the Tokaido", "Famous Places in the Eastern Capital", and "Eight Views of Omi". #Recommended for inbound visitors. |
