Description
*Colotype postcard with ears [Rosanjin GONOMI] frog*. Rosanjin Kitaoji These postcards are reproductions of paintings by Rosanjin using collotype printing. Eight works from "Rosanjin's Small Paintings", a collection of works selected by Rosanjin himself and published by Convenience Store in 1933, are suitable for the picture postcards. The boards from those days are reused for printing, and each postcard is hand-printed on Japanese paper with an edge. *What is collotype*? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype expresses them with continuous gradation, which makes it possible to express them with fine details that are closer to the real thing, just like photographs. Kitaoji Rosanjin Born in Tokyo in 1883. He was a genius artist who pursued beauty through food, working in ceramics, calligraphy, and painting. His talent as an advisor and head chef at Hoshioka Saryo, a restaurant run by Nakamura Chikushiro, the fourth generation of Nakamura Chikushiro, was fully demonstrated and took the world by storm. |
