明治16〜昭和34（1883〜1959）年。陶芸・書・画を自ら手掛け、食を通じて美を追求した天才芸術家です。便利堂四代目・中村竹四郎が経営した料亭「星岡茶寮（ほしがおかさりょう）」では、顧問・料理長である魯山人の才能が遺憾なく発揮され一世を風靡しました。
