Hoitsu Sakai
Born in Edo, the second son of the Sakai family, the feudal lord of the Himeji domain, from 1761 to 1828. He was proficient in various arts including painting, haikai, and waka. He studied Kano painting, sketch painting, ukiyoe, Tosa school, Maruyama school, and many other styles, but he was deeply devoted to Ogata Korin, who became the founder of the Edo Rimpa school.
