Harumon Ikeda
Japanese-style painter born in Kurashiki City from 1895 to 1988. He graduated from the Kyoto College of Painting. He first studied Western-style painting at Matsubara Sangoro's Tensai Gajuku, but later switched to Japanese-style painting and became a member of Takeuchi Seiho's Takezekai. Influenced by Tomita Keisen, he developed his own style of painting with brightly colored landscapes based on the bird's eye view method. He formed Suimeikai with Uemura Shoko and others, Negi-Seisha with Hamada Kan and others, and organized Seitosha, a painting school, to train younger artists. Served as a judge for the New Bunten and Nitten exhibitions. Advisor to the Nitten* Member of the Art Institute of Japan. He was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit. Received the Order of Cultural Merit. Died in 1988 at the age of 93. His representative works are [Snow in Osaka] and [Wave].
