Description
| *Picture postcard [Ito Jakuchu, Ito Jakuchu, painting], By Ito Jakuchu* (detail) By Ito Jakuchu, Edo period, Collection of Hosomi Art Museum We recommend that you give this postcard as a gift to someone, or decorate your room with your favorite one. Jakuchu Ito Born in Kyoto between 1716 and 1800 (the first year of the Kyoho era and the 12th year of the Kansei era). He studied the Kano school while working for the family wholesale store, but at the age of 39, he handed over the reigns of the family to his younger brother, and began to devote himself to painting. While studying the ancient paintings of the Yuan and Ming dynasties and the decorative paintings of the Korin school of Japanese and Chinese painting, he also worked on sketching plants and animals, and was particularly good at painting chickens.
