| We modeled a famous Ralph Lauren item (Big Shirts) produced in the 90's and created a pattern from scratch. This Ralph's famous item was a model designed to be worn larger than the regular size sold at the time, and was never sold in Japan. Even now, after a lapse of time, it is still considered a rare and valuable model that is hard to find in the used clothing market due to its scarcity. It is a very rare and rare model that is hard to find in the vintage clothing market. If you wear a regular size XL, the sleeves and length will be abnormally long, and you will inevitably look unkempt. Therefore, Audience has focused on an A-line box silhouette, and has created a size balance calculated so that even adults can wear this item with elegance. What makes this shirt different from ordinary shirts is that the pattern of ordinary shirts is set so that the shoulders are longer in the front and shorter in the back, and the sleeves swing forward. By doing so, the pattern of a normal shirt is made to follow the lines of the body more beautifully. If the same pattern is used for the box-A-line silhouette, there would be extra room in the front, wrinkles around the sleeve cuffs, and the silhouette would collapse.... Therefore, we created a new original pattern with the same position of the shoulder peak in the front and back to avoid wrinkles. In short, a shirt is designed to follow the lines of the body nicely, and this new pattern is a box silhouette that does not pick up the lines of the body. If I were to add a little more, it would be easier to understand if I say that the sleeves are attached like the gardening coats that have exploded in popularity at Audience. The shirt will fluff up and spread out to create a relaxed A-line look. The pattern has been calculated so that the shirt does not look too oversized, but it still gives a sense of elegance. The president of the shirt factory told us about this new pattern... [This pattern is impossible for a shirt!] I heard that the president of the factory that specializes in shirts said "There is no such pattern for shirts! This is how far we have come to produce shirts that have overturned the concept of shirts. It tends to look big when you see it on a hanger, but when you actually wear it, it's not so big that it's absurdly large, and I think you will agree with the silhouette. Audience's new silhouette shirt. It will be a new standard item. [Based on the motif of 60s vintage ITARY NAVY]. This band collar shirt is made in the image of 60s vintage ITARY NAVY (Italian Navy). The band collar is made from a detachable collar with strong classic elements, and the collar height is set low. The collar is small and has gussets on both sides, which is a general characteristic of 60's shirts. The accent of the gusset is effective, and it is an honorable model that does not choose the thickness of pants. By making the front placket a back placket that does not show on the front side, it can be worn more dressy and as a business casual shirt. Even the back side is finished beautifully by [fold-down stitching], which is full of craftsmanship. It is a daily wear that is easy to adopt to casual wear because of the texture of the oxford fabric, which is often used throughout the year and looks good even when washed. The white color is not a strong fluorescent white, but a good off-white that is easy to match with anything, no matter who wears it. The simple and sophisticated impression, yet the relaxed silhouette gives a sense of presence to the outfit. This is a recommended shirt series. |

このラルフの名品は当時販売されていたレギュラーサイズよりも、大きめに着ることを前提にしたモデルで、日本では販売されることもなく、時が経った今でも、古着市場で数量も乏しく手に入りづらい希少価値の高いモデルとされています。
大体のサイズ感ですが、MサイズでレギュラーサイズのXLサイズぐらいの大きさでしょうか。
レギュラーサイズのXLを着ると袖丈や着丈が異常に長くなってしまい、どうしても野暮ったくなってしまいます。
そこでAudienceではAラインのBOXシルエットを重点に、大人の方でも品良く着用できるよう計算したサイズバランスで仕上げました。
では、何が通常のシャツと違うかと言いますと、一般的なシャツのパターンは、肩山の位置を前が長く、後ろが短く、袖が前に振れるよう設定されているのです。
そうすることで、より身体のラインに綺麗に沿うようにされているのが通常のシャツのパターン。
今回このBOX-Aラインシルエットに同様のパターンを採用してしまうと、前身頃に余計な余りが出来てしまい、袖ぐり周りにシワができシルエットが崩れてしまうと…。
そこで肩山の位置を前後同じにして、シワができないように作成したのが今回独自の新パターン。
要は身体のラインを綺麗に沿うように設計されているのがシャツなのですが、この新パターンは身体のラインを拾わないボックスシルエットということです。
もう少し付け加えると、Audienceで爆発的に人気となったガーデニングコートのような袖付けになっていると言うと伝わりやすいでしょうか。
シャツがふわっとした感じに広がりAラインでリラックスした雰囲気になります。
かと言って野暮ったくならないように計算されたパターンなので、オーバーサイズながらも品の良ささえ感じさせます。
この新パターン、シャツ専用工場の社長さんからは…「こんなパターン、シャツではあり得ない!!」と言われたそうで…。それくらいにシャツの概念を覆してまで生産に至ったわけです。
ハンガー掛けして見ると大きく見がちですが、実際着用して頂くとむちゃくちゃに大きいわけでもなく、ご納得頂けるシルエットかと思います。
