Description
| This hemp curtain is made in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, which is well known for its Nishikigoi carp. The Nishikigoi design is boldly applied to a white shrunken fabric with a unique surface texture (wrinkle). The material of this Noren is called "Chijimifuse" and was developed based on the traditional fabric "Ojiya Shrink" from ancient times. Craftsmen carefully rub it in hot water [yumomi] to form a grain, creating a material that is beautiful to the eye and has a unique appearance. |
