Use it as a small container for accessories and other small objects. *About Churkanos pottery Churcanos, located in Piura Province in northern Peru, has been making pottery since the time of the Inca Empire and is said to be the best pottery town in South America. Churcanas pottery is produced using a technique similar to wax-dyeing to create patterns. They are made using a unique technique in which liquid clay is applied, smoked with mango wood, and the clay is peeled off after the kiln is unloaded. This technique died out with the fall of the Inca Empire, but was revived in the 1960s by descendants inspired by the discovery of Incan earthenware made with this technique. |

Churcanas pottery is produced using a technique similar to wax-dyeing to create patterns. They are made using a unique technique in which liquid clay is applied, smoked with mango wood, and the clay is peeled off after the kiln is unloaded.

■チュルカノスの焼き物について
ペルー北部のピウラ県にあるチュルカナスはインカ帝国の時代より陶器作りが盛んな町で、南米一の陶芸の町といわれています。
チュルカナスの焼き物はろうけつ染めと似たような技術で模様を出します。液状粘土を塗り、マンゴウッドの薪でいぶし、窯出し後に粘土をはがす独特な技法で作られています。
この技法はインカ帝国の滅亡とともに途絶えていきましたが、1960年代にこの技法で作られたインカ帝国の土器が発掘され、その素晴らしさ触発された末裔たちにより復活しました。
