The mysterious cracked pattern by Kan-iri (a technique of penetrating the surface of a gourd) brings coolness to the table, making this series perfect for the hot season. 70 gourd-shaped kotsuke has a warmth and individuality of the artist's handwork due to the unrefined shape of the gourd. It is just the right size for serving soy sauce, pickles, or chopstick rests, and its depth makes it easy to use when serving soupy foods. It is also useful when serving cold appetizers, as it gives an atmosphere of a kaiseki restaurant.
