We have collected 10 auspicious "rabbits" from various people in the hope that both the giver and the receiver will value and respect each other's tastes and ideas, and enjoy the differences between them. The gift is to be given to the recipient; *Tsugaozan Kozan-ji Temple, Kyoto, Japan(Author unknown) *Tsugaozan Kozan-ji Temple, Kyoto, Japan A national treasure, a picture scroll handed down in Kozan-ji Temple, Kyoto. It consists of four scrolls, A, B, C and D. A and B are said to have been produced in the late Heian period and C and D in the Kamakura period. The emaki is 44 meters long, and the white drawings with ink lines are playful and representative of the world-famous caricatures. It is also considered the oldest [manga] in Japan. The artist is said to be Kakuyu, a Toba Buddhist priest, but there is no proof. |
