Description
The art of bending shines through Hinoki-no-Wappabon is now available. This is a collaboration between Kisokoma seal and SALIU. Hinoki (Japanese cypress) has a beautiful and shiny surface. Especially, the hinoki grown in Gifu*Tono region, called "Tono Hinoki", is made of Japanese cypress. In the cold climate, it grows slowly into a high quality wood with a tight grain. The pinkish bark of the wood becomes more lustrous as it ages. The beauty of Tono Hinoki is maximized in our bentwood trays. The technique of wappa has been handed down in Japan since ancient times. Kisokoma's bent wappa is made by hand by a single wappa craftsman, who handles every step of the process from cutting the wood to shaping and polishing. The entire process, from cutting the wood to shaping and polishing, is done by hand by a single wappa craftsman. It can be used as a table for meals and as a tray for tea time. We also recommend using it as a tray for cooking rice balls and other dishes because of the sterilizing power of hinoki cypress. |
