| The three Hindu gods of destruction of the universe. Brahma is one of the three great gods of Hinduism. According to Hinduism, there are approximately 430,000 years between the creation and the end of the universe, with Brahma presiding over the creation of the universe, Vishnu preserving the universe, and Shiva preserving the destruction of the universe when it comes to an end, in preparation for the creation of the next universe. These three gods are ultimately considered to be the same god and are called trimurti (oneness of the three gods). Shiva is said to have more than 1,000 incarnations, and Linga, the phallic deity, is an incarnation of Shiva. |
