| Originally, this cushion was designed for cab drivers to drive comfortably. It can be placed on the backrest when riding in a car or sitting in a chair. The conventional version has been adjusted to the best angle for using a computer. [About Platz] Platz Co., Ltd. was established in Nishijin in the 1887's and set up store in Saga Arashiyama when the processing factory was relocated. Platz's handmade cushions have been featured in anan, Sarai, Figaro Japon, etc.... Our handmade zabuton have been introduced in many magazines, TV, FM, AM, etc., and are also used in temples, shrines, and famous ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants) all over Japan. All products are manufactured in Japan. [Platz's cushions] We aim to create products with warmth, focusing on the comfort of natural materials. We aim to create products with warmth. Zabuton derives from tatami mats. Ancient tatami mats served as both bedding and seating, and were an expression of status and authority. The seating part of the tatami developed into the shitone, the prototype for the zabuton. In the Kamakura period (1185-1333), with the resumption of cotton imports and improvements in production technology, people began to use cloth for the side, and by the middle of the Edo period (1603-1867), it had taken on almost its present form with cotton inside the fabric. However, it was not until the Taisho period (1912-1926) that it became popular among the general public. |

自然素材の心地良さにこだわって、
温もりのあるものづくりを目指しています。
座布団は畳に由来します。古代の畳は寝具と座具の両方を兼ねており、身分や権威を表す物で、その座具としての部分が座布団の原型ともいえる茵（しとね）へと発達していきました。
鎌倉時代になると、綿の輸入の再開と、生産技術の向上により、側地に布を使うようになり、江戸中期頃には生地の中に綿を入れたほぼ現在の形になりました。しかし庶民に普及したのは、大正時代になってからのことです。
