Description
| [Made in Japan] Minoyaki, Shofu Kiln, Yoji Sone, SENDAN coffee cup / mug / tableware, North American style [Product Description] This mug is produced by Yoji Sone of Shofugama, a Minoyaki potter and Nitten artist. The traditional "sen-dan" technique has been arranged in a modern way to create a fashionable mug. The large mug has an easy-to-handle handle and is ideal for café au lait or soup. The surface of the thousand-step is easy to hold and lightweight, making it easy for women, children, and the elderly to use. The thousand-step technique is a pattern in which raw clay is placed on a potter's wheel and the spinning clay is scraped from below, requiring a high level of skill. The texture is pleasant to the touch, and the warmth of the clay can be felt. Mr. Sone uses two colors of clay, black and white, instead of the traditional single color, to express this ancient Japanese technique in a modern design. |
