The glass sphere floats up and down depending on the temperature [glass float thermometer], and the shape of the crystal changes depending on the weather conditions [storm glass]. [What is the Galileo Thermometer?] It is a thermometer based on the principle discovered by physicist Galileo Galilei that the specific gravity of a liquid changes with the temperature. The temperature is indicated by a glass sphere that moves up and down, and the actual temperature is read on the plate with the lowest value of the floating glass sphere. [What is a storm glass?] Storm glasses were used in Europe in the early 9th century* as a weather forecasting tool during navigation. It is said that the crystals in the liquid change according to the weather and temperature, allowing the user to enjoy the unique changes in the crystals. ＜ガリレオ温度計とは？＞
物理学者のガリレオ・ガリレイが発見した「液体の比重が気温によって変化する」原理を用いて作られた温度計です。
上下するガラスの球体が気温を示し、実際の気温は浮いてるガラス球体の一番数値の低いプレートで読み取ります。
＜ストームグラスとは？＞
9世紀初頭・ヨーロッパで航海時の気象予測ツールとして使われていた「ストームグラス（気象計）」
天気や気温などによって液体内の結晶の様子が変化すると言われており、結晶がユニークに変化する様子を楽しむことができます。
ストームグラスは複数の化学薬品をアルコールに溶かしガラス容器に詰めたもので、英国海軍のロバート・フィッツロイ提督がこの装置を詳細に研究したことから、別名「フィッツロイの気象計」とも呼ばれています。
気象状況と液体内部の結晶化の関連性については科学的には解明されておらず、正確な天気を予測する為にはお使い頂けません。

■ストームグラスの結晶について
※商品によって個体差はありますが、室温およそ5℃〜25℃の範囲で結晶化をお楽しみ頂けます。それ以外の室温のもとでは、結晶化はせずに、液体も透明のままになります。適切な温度帯になると結晶化するようになります。
※暑い季節にご購入頂いた際、結晶が見られずこともございますが、平らな場所、日陰に設置していただき、ストームグラスに丁度良い気温・天気になるのをお待ちください。
※本体を振り液体が混ざってしまうと結晶が発生しにくくなります。本体は揺らさずにお使い下さい。
※開梱してから周囲の環境になじむまでに1週間前後の時間が必要とされています。
