Description
About Katch's Handmade Bells These handmade bells are from the Katchi region of Gujarat. In the old days, nomads living in this region were said to recognize their livestock by the different tones of the bells, which were tuned by artisans and placed around the animals' necks. Bells are still made in the same way today. First, an iron plate is cut out and shaped with a hammer and an anvil, then it is covered with a mixture of copper and brass powder, encased in clay, and baked in a kiln. Finally, the tongues are attached and hammered again for tuning. Please enjoy the simple but beautiful sound of Katchi's handmade bells.
