The collection traces the unique period from the air raids and the defeat of the war, through the landing of the Occupation Forces, the stationing of American soldiers, and the seizure of various facilities, to their cancellation. The collection also captures the drastic changes in the cityscape and lifestyles as the area recovers from the devastation of the war. The collection contains approximately 400 photographs taken between 1945 and 1955 in Osaka and other prefectures in the Kansai region.
