[About the "netsuke" (penetration) These are called "nannage," or cracks in the glaze that occur when the glaze cools down after firing due to the difference in shrinkage rates between the glaze and the base material. The vessel itself is not cracked and can be used normally. Individual pieces may or may not have penetrations depending on the position in the kiln and the firing temperature. |
