| Bread pocket Kawatani shirt JAPAN / Cotton weather Ohmi bleached band collar shirt This banded collar shirt is made of Omi bleached(*) fabric, which has a wrinkled, deep look. The Japanese fabric is slowly wrinkled to bring out the original cotton's puffiness and natural texture, and its elasticity gives it a fine texture. The hard part of the bread ear and the fluffy part of the inside are imagined, and the pocket opening is folded over without stitching to create a soft atmosphere, while double stitching is used around the pocket to give it a bouncy feel. This pocket is carefully sewn with advanced techniques to eliminate the distortion of the fabric caused by cutting out a square, and to put the fabric from the back to make the pocket square (right-angled) precisely, taking the time and effort to measure straight lines* and right angles one by one. The seam allowance around the sides and arms are sewn with [fold-down stitching], which is gentle to the skin because the seams do not touch the skin, and the seams are strong and resistant to repeated washing, which is another point of attention. The delicate design is finished with Japanese careful sewing techniques, using high quality fabrics made in Japan, and we are committed to [JAPAN MADE]. The fabric is exposed to sunlight for about 10 days while being covered with lye made from ashes of trees and grasses dissolved in water, which has the effect of bleaching and softening the fabric, then placed in a pot, burned in lye and exposed to sunlight several times, and finally pounded with a wooden mortar, washed with water and exposed to sunlight again for several tens of days. Omi Kamifu is also used as a gift from the Hikone clan (Shiga Prefecture) to the Shogun Tokugawa family, and is known as a traditional luxury item. シワのある奥深い表情が楽しめる近江晒(※)生地を使ったバンドカラーシャツです。
ゆっくりともみほぐすことで綿本来のふくらみとナチュラルなシボ感を最大限に引き出し、弾力のあるハリが上質な風合いを醸す国産生地、そして大胆に切り抜いた食パン型のポケットがポイント。
パン耳の硬い部分と中のふわふわをイメージし、ポケット口は柔らかい雰囲気を出すようあえてステッチを入れず生地を折り返し、ポケット周りはダブルステッチを入れハリを出しました。
このポケットは、四角く切り抜くことにより生じる生地の歪みに対して、裏から生地をあて正確に四角(直角)にポケットをつける為、一つひとつ直線・直角を測りながら手間暇を掛けて歪みを無くし、高度な技術を注いで丁寧に縫製されています。
また、脇や腕まわりは「折り伏せ縫い」で縫い代を始末しており、縫い目が肌にあたらないため肌に優しく、縫い目が丈夫で洗濯の繰り返しにも強い点もこだわりポイントのひとつ。
日本製の上質な生地を使い、そして繊細なデザインを日本の丁寧な縫製技術で仕上げ、「JAPAN MADE」にこだわり抜きました。

仕様漂白効果と生地を柔らかくする効果がある「木や草で作った灰を水で溶かした灰汁(あく)」をかけながら10日間ほど日光に晒し、釜に入れ、灰汁で焚き日光に数回晒し、最後に木臼でつき、水で洗い日光にまた数十日晒して完成します。
彦根藩(滋賀県)から将軍徳川家へ献上品としても近江上布が使われており、伝統的な高級品として知られています。
