[Steroids have potent anti-inflammatory and anti-immune effects and are used in the treatment of many diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, collagen diseases, hematological diseases, respiratory diseases, renal diseases, digestive diseases, and skin diseases. On the other hand, however, they are often associated with side effects. This book presents new guidelines for the management and treatment of osteoporosis, which accounts for about a quarter of all steroid side effects, revised after 10 years, and presents the latest findings in the pathogenesis and treatment of steroid-induced osteoporosis. Compliance with the guidelines is still low, at 20?30%, and many health care professionals are urged to take advantage of them. |
