Description
| These earrings are imported directly from Hawaii. Triangles are carved on thick koa wood. This triangle represents sharks' teeth. Surrounded by the ocean, sharks are a familiar creature in Hawaii. Because of its scary image, it has been passed down as a symbol of bravery and masculinity. On the other hand, there is a legend that if you take good care of sharks, they will help you in times of trouble. Many people have this triangle tattooed on their bodies or wear it as an accessory to protect themselves from accidents in the ocean. The koa wood from which these earrings are made is an acacia tree native to Hawaii. Because of its rarity, only royalty was allowed to use koa wood for furniture, architecture, and other purposes. Nowadays, logging and exports are restricted for protection. The "koa" in koa wood means courage. |
