Description
Okame on the front, Hyottoko on the other side *Hyottoko is drawn on the other side of the product*. 〜Meaning of Okame and Hyottoko Okame is a woman with a broad forehead and a low, round nose, and Hyottoko is a frightened man with a pointed mouth. Originally, Okame was the god of inviting good fortune and Hyottoko was the god of protecting fire, and they were very familiar to people. It is thought that they came to be used in the Fukuso (happy laughter) game as a way of expressing familiarity. The hottoko is the "God of Fire" or "God of Hearth" because he blows the fire of the hearth (kamado) with a bamboo pipe. Thus, Okame is the god of inviting good fortune, and Hyottoko is the god of protecting fire or the god of the hearth, and together they are sometimes treated as the god of family happiness.
