This book provides a thorough explanation of the castle town*Matsuyama, which was created by the division of land into samurai residences and temple towns, and by the development of a defensive town that took advantage of the slope of the mountain. Making extensive use of old maps, illustrations, and topographical maps, as well as photographs of the site, the author unearths the strata of history and traces the stories and traces hidden in the town.
