TARAGON's jute bag production is one of the core activities of the project, which encourages women in poor rural areas of Bangladesh to take up crafts and raise their standard of living by paying them equal compensation through fair trade. Using jute hemp, one of Bangladesh's main agricultural products, the company employs several designers at its headquarters who design not only baskets and bags, but also the fabrics used to weave the hemp. They dispatch technical instructors to each region and village where they have production bases to improve techniques and quality control.
