カタとは、チベット密教の吉兆模様がプリントされている薄手の布で、人を祝福したり、神様に敬意を表する時に使われる祝福用の布です。
仏像にかけたり、タンカを装飾したり、人の首にかけたり。何か、祝福したいものにかけて使います。
人が何処かに旅立ち自分の元へ戻ってくる時に「よく無事に帰ってきたね」という嬉しさとを表現したり、誰か客人が自分のところに来たときに「ようこそ!」という意味を込めてこのスカーフを首元にかけてあげるそうです。
