Otome Bunraku was invented at the end of the Taisho period (1912-1926) and became popular in the early Showa period (1926-1989), and its tradition has been handed down to the present with its unique puppet manipulation techniques. In addition to an introduction to the costumes* and tools donated to Osaka University, the book includes interviews and historical discussions with Kiyoko Kubo, former puppeteer of Otome Bunraku, Hitomi-za Otome Bunraku, Yoshida Komitsu, and Yoshida Koei, who have continued the tradition of Otome Bunraku. |
