Tokonameyaki has a 1,000-year history dating back to the late Heian period and is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. A wide range of products are made here, from daily necessities such as teapots and tableware to building materials such as ceramic pipes, tiles, and sanitary ware. On June 11, 1976, the area was designated as a traditional craft center based on the national "Law Concerning the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries.

*A stainless steel tea strainer is used, which can be used safely even for deep steamed tea with fine tea leaves.
