Tokonameyaki has a 1,000-year history dating back to the late Heian period and is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. A wide range of products are made here, from daily necessities such as teapots and tableware to construction materials such as ceramic pipes, tiles, and sanitary ware. On June 11, 1976, the area was designated as a traditional crafts area based on the national "Law Concerning the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries.

*The entire kyusu is made of ceramic. It features a ceramic tea strainer (ceramesh) that allows the flavor of tea to be extracted.
*This kyusu has a capacity for 3 people (100ml per person).
*The tea strainer is made of hardened ceramic clay, covered with a traditional Tokoname ash glaze and fired at 1200 degrees Celsius. The material contains no harmful substances.
*The lid and body are mortised together to make a pair. Therefore, there are polishing marks on the lid and body.
