This roll-neck switch poncho uses Bingo Setsubori's multi-checkered kasuri pattern.
It is tailored in a simple form so that the unique kasuri pattern itself can be worn as a single piece. It is a piece of clothing that stands out on its own. Please wear it over cut and sewn clothing. [Care] Hand-washing is recommended. [About the fabric] Bingo Setsubori is a new brand of fabric derived from Bingo Kasuri, a traditional fabric in the Bingo area of Hiroshima Prefecture (one of the three major types of kasuri along with Kurume Kasuri and Iyo Kasuri). Originally, Bingo kasuri has a silky feel compared to kasuri from other regions, but Bingo Setsu-ori is characterized by its nep (knot) texture. The weaving yarns also have bulky neps, giving it a warm, rustic texture that is reminiscent of hand-woven fabrics, even though it is machine-woven. The texture is created by an old-style shuttle loom made in the 1960s. The shuttle loom is a mechanism that weaves slowly by using a shuttle with a built-in weft thread between warp threads that are opened at the top and bottom, and by moving the shuttle from side to side to strike the thread. Since there is not much tension applied to the weft yarns, it is possible to weave with a slightly airy, soft texture that is unique to cotton. |
