| Shigaraki ware is produced around Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, and is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan! Shigaraki ware is made of strong clay, and is characterized by its rustic texture, which is a product of the richness of nature as it is! It is appreciated for various occasions such as hospitality, gifts and souvenirs for people overseas, etc.! Earthenware has low thermal conductivity and temperature rises slowly, so by gradually adding heat, the enzymes that break down the starch in rice and other ingredients into sugars work well, bringing out the sweetness of the ingredients. Another key point is that vegetables such as root vegetables are less likely to fall apart in stewed dishes.
