How has gender functioned in society? Comparison of Japan, Asia, and the Islamic world! Relativizing the [modernity] of Western civilization! Gender has been a constitutive principle of various societies at different times and in different regions. In other words, it acts as a force that creates structures by constructing the norms, values, and identities of the society, by defining modes of behavior, spaces for activities, and division of roles, and by being incorporated into laws and political and economic systems. What mechanisms are at work and how are societies formed? Chapter 1 deals with the [home*family*kinship], which is the foundation of social formation, and clarifies the status and position of women in the family by looking at various families around the world and their changes over time, the social factors that prompted these changes, how the family and its members are perceived, including religious regulations, and property rights and inheritance. Chapter 2 [Social Hierarchy and Gender] examines the position of gender in hierarchical social institutions, the reasons for and consequences of gender segregation*segregation, the impact of religion, and the exclusion of women*race and attempts at integration in modern society. Chapter 3 [Power*Political Regimes and Gender] addresses kingship and gender, governance by women, and the place of gender in various political regimes. Chapter 4 [Labor*Education*Culture] examines men's and women's labor and its place in society, the purpose*of education and its relationship to occupation, and the representation of gender. *Features of this book *Set of comparative items The characteristics of each society in different civilizations can be contrasted to see how they differ in their family and labor practices. *Focus on the Islamic world Islam is one important pillar in examining the impact of religion on family*social life and the relationship between the various institutions that are formed and gender. In order to dispel prejudices about the Islamic world, this book devotes a full page to explaining Islam's understanding of gender, including changes due to interpretations of the scriptures. In addition, since aspects of Islam vary from region to region, we have tried to clarify the regions as much as possible to ensure a correct understanding of Islam. |
