Tie-dyeing is a process in which pressure is applied to a part of the cloth (binding with thread, sewing, folding, etc.) to dye the cloth so that the dye does not seep into the pressured area, thus creating a pattern. The process of applying pressure to the cloth is called kukuri, and the three-dimensional wrinkles created in the process of kukuri are used as one of the expressions of tie-dyeing. This time, we asked a craftsman in Kyoto to dye thin and strong kangaroo leather using this technique. Please enjoy the beautiful patterns and the protrusions that pop out after the binding is untied. Carefully sewn stitch by stitch by Japanese craftsmen, Afd wallets are made of high quality materials and are perfect as gifts!
